＜雑話＞振り込め詐欺

コーネル大学では、地域で犯罪があった時などに警告メールを全学生＆教職員に流している。良くあるのが空き巣やスリ等の話なのだが、本日受信したメールに珍しいものがあったので以下転載する。

Grandparent Scam – New York’s attorney general just sent us a warning about a scam in which an imposter calls an elderly person claiming to be a grandchild with an urgent need for money
—and asks that the “grandparent” keep it a secret. It’s another good reason to check in with loved ones from time to time. That way, if they get a call that you are snowbound in Buffalo, they can tell truth from fiction. Maybe not the best example, but you get my drift. Oops, I did it again!

なんと、アメリカでも振り込め詐欺があるらしい。高齢者を狙って電話するというのだから日本と全く変わらない。グローバリゼーションの産物なのか、それとも単に全世界で等しく通用する犯罪の手口なのか。
